Web 3.0

The basic and simple definition of web 3.0 is that it is a web that will use AI and machine learning to better serve its users. Web 3.0 will be highly intelligent, user-oriented, and will better understand the user intent.

Web 3.0 is the future of web?

With all of this information everywhere, you (a simple-minded guy) will be thinking about the future that you have seen in futuristic movies and dramas. Will web 3.0 really bring us a hi-fi future like that?

In this article, we will discuss how web 3.0 is the future and what this future may look like and what this future has in store for us. We have written this article in a way so that even a reader with a basic understanding of the web and the internet can get a grasp.

Limitations of Web 2.0

But first, we have to understand the limitations of web 2.0. Once we understand the limitations and scope of web 2.0, it will be really easy for us to understand what future web 3.0 holds for us.

Following is a list of the limitations (you can say disadvantages) of web 2.0.

  1. You are not the owner of your data. Your data belongs to the web companies.
  2. In web 2.0, you will need a middleman (platform, banks) to perform transactions.
  3. There is open source in web 2.0, but it is very limited.
  4. You don’t have the security and privacy of your data i.e. Big tech companies will sell your data.
  5. Although new algorithms have made web 2.0 better understand the user intent, still sometimes irrelevant data comes.
  6. You can’t personalize your browser and ad experience much.

How web 3.0 solves the limitations of web 2.0

Now that we have an understanding of the limitations, let’s look at how web 3.0 will make these limitations go away:

  1. The first and foremost benefit of web 3.0 will be that it will bring the ownership back to the creator. The reign will be in your hand and it will depend on you, how much data you want to share with the company or not.
  2. Web 3.0 will put you directly in touch with the company. When you perform a transaction online you need a middleman. Web 3.0 will remove this middleman and put you in direct contact with the company.
  3. Web 3.0 will be completely open-source and public. You can easily access the code of the company where your data is.
  4. When you sign up for a web company online, they take access to your data. They can watch it and even sell it. Web 3.0 will solve this issue, and you will have good security for your data.
  5. The main catch point of web 3.0 is that it will better understand the user’s needs. For this purpose, it’s going to use AI and machine learning. These machines will track your searches and preferences and will show you data accordingly.
  6. Web 3.0 will upgrade the web browser’s personalization highly, This personalization will happen due to AI and machine learning. There will be relevant only. And all the irrelevant ads will be cut down.
  7. Web 3.0 will be enriched with highly enhanced 3d graphics and virtual reality too.
  8. Last but not the least, another crucial factor is that web 3.0 will be highly prone to hacking.

Once you understand these points, you will understand what the future of the web will look like.

Some examples of Web 3.0

Following are some of the examples of websites that are working on the principle of web 3.0. These web 3.0 examples will make your mind clear about the future of the web.

Blockchain

The most famous example of web 3.0 applications is the blockchain.

Blockchain is the backbone of the Web 3.0 concept. If you understand blockchain, you know what web 3.0 will be. Blockchain is a set of computers spread over the internet. These computers are used to maintain a record. When a new record adds, all the computers check it. Once it is validated by all the computers, the record is updated.

Blockchain removes the concept of decentralization and it is the core of web 3.0.

Cryptocurrency

The second most famous example that works on the concept of web 3.0 is cryptocurrencies. These cryptocurrencies are not held by any government or any bank. Hence, they remove the need for any third party or middleman. Blockchain maintains the record of these cryptocurrencies. The most common type of cryptocurrency is bitcoin. Artificial Intelligence

Due to rapid advancements in technology, artificial intelligence is getting better day by day. Think of the apps you use every day like Google’s “Alexa” and Apple’s ” Siri”. You talk to them. They understand what you are asking. They make a judgment and then try to show you the results that you asked for.

De-centralized Apps (D-apps)

These apps work on the same principle of blockchain technology or peer-to-peer (P2P). Because the regular apps are on a single computer server that is the ownership of an organization, whereas these apps are on a set of computers. These D-apps are open source, they provide data security, privacy, and transparency. that is the way how all the apps will be in the future. BitTorrent is a popular example of a D-app.

Metaverse

Metaverse is in the talks every now and then. metaverse is going to truly revolutionize the social media experience. not only in social media, but the ideas of metaverse will also implement in other sectors too. Basically, in the metaverse, you will have 3d avatars and you will be directly in contact with your friends and family in virtual reality. it will be like they are present with you in whatever environment you will choose.

Smart Contracts

A long heap of documents needs signs, and reading, and has to go through a lot of different stages when signing a contract with a company. I think you get the picture. but in web 3.0 there will be smart contracts, and all of this long process will happen in one click and in minutes. with smart contracts, you will easily sign a contract with a company when buying a house or car.

Initial coin offerings

In initial coin offerings, a new cryptocurrency is created that is not worth anything yet. companies buy this cryptocurrency and invest in the coin producer. that way new cryptocurrency is produced and the person or company that produces coins gets the investment. This initial coin offering is also working on the core basis of Web 3.0.

Ethereum is an example of initial coin offerings. in 2014, 31000 Bitcoins were made with the help of when Ethereum was launched as an initial coin.

Decentralized Organizations

The main thing about web 3.0 is that it is going to decentralize the web. today all the organizations work on the basis of centralization. however, in the future, all the web apps, and companies will get decentralized. And these organizations will be called decentralized organizations.

Edge Computing

edge computing is a fascinating term. Data is in the main central data center. However, in edge computing, some of the data is taken out of the central data center and is brought close to the main source form where the data is coming. Hence, getting the name edge computing.

This is how the whole web will be after the implementation of Web 3.0.

When will web 3.0 launch to be the future of web?

Yes, web 3.0 is the future. But when will it launch? It’s not like the next day you wake up, and suddenly web 3.0 is everywhere. It is a gradual step that will take some time. Also, keep in mind that it almost took 10 years to move from web 1.0 to web 2.0. So moving from web 2.0 to web 3.0 is going to take some time.
